Asthma Inhalers
Here is an article covering the two main types of asthma inhalers:
Reliever Inhalers:
Reliever inhalers are usually coloured blue and you take them primarily to relieve the symptoms of allergy asthma. These reliever inhalers work quickly by calming and relaxing the muscles surrounding the narrowed airways. Reliever inhalers are necessary and essential in treating allergy asthma attacks. It should be noted that if you need to use your reliever inhaler as often as 3–4 times a week, you should go consult your doctor. Your symptoms may have to be reviewed so that they can be medically kept under control.
Preventer Inhalers:
Preventer inhalers are usually coloured either brown, red or orange. Preventer inhalers by controlling the swelling and inflammation that occurs in the airways. This prevents them from becoming so sensitive and reduces the risk of severe allergy asthma attacks from occurring. The medical benefits of the medicines contained in preventer inhalers build up over a period of time. For this reason they need to be taken daily, usually morning and evening, even when you are not displaying any symptoms of allergy asthma. Most preventer inhalers contain a mild steroid medicine that is quite safe to take as it merely mimics the natural steroids produced normally in your body.
There you have the two main types of inhalers used by asthma sufferers.
